Transparency Market Research reports that Unified Communications (UC) expenditures will grow from $22.8 Billion in 2011 to almost $62 Billion by the end of 2018.

Businesses are always looking for ways to operate more efficiently, grow productivity and cut expenses; unified communications offers a way to accomplish all three through collaboration and resource sharing.

Unified communications combines audio, video, applications and conferencing capabilities through hardware, software and internet protocol-based innovations.

UC technologies simplifies the methodologies by which multiple systems and business functions operate; migrating what used to take a team of IT professionals into a handful of competent administrators.

Industry pundits note that the UC market hasn't grown at expected levels the past several years, due in part to complexities in technologies, security concerns and adoption costs.

Transparency Market Research does predicts the proliferation of the mobile workforce with devices that are capable of video communications and growth in networks capable of easily handle video, voice and data will drive UC interest, spending and adoption in the future.
